Our CEO, Clarence Baltrusaitis, spoke with CU Broadcast host, Mike Lawson, about NET Credit Union’s recent CUNA Lending Council Excellence in Lending Award win for consumer lending practices. In the broadcast, Clarence explained what NET did to receive this national award. The entire NET team collaborated together to improve our lending department; ultimately, winning this rewarding achievement.
When Clarence received the news that NET Credit Union won this honorable award, he was in complete shock. “We did this in Scranton, Pennsylvania,” expressed Clarence. For the past year, NET Credit Union has launched a Credit Score Program, which trained all of the employees to help members improve their credit score by coming in for a free financial health check up. The program was launched to help members pay off their debts in a timely manner, explain what a credit card is and how to properly use it, and most importantly, how to rebuild their credit score.
NET Credit Union went from reactive to proactive in just a year’s time. In 2015, our loan growth expanded 24%. In 2016, our loan growth expanded 12%. The entire NET Credit Union team has already began improvements for the new year, especially our move to Mulberry Street. NET is also reaching out to millennials so that they understand NET isn’t just for their parents; they can benefit from us as well.
Besides explaining our success in our lending department, Clarence also spoke about how these practices benefited NET, what the national award says about our efforts and advice to other credit unions on how to succeed in this department. “This award was extremely important to validate those efforts among the team that came together. Without that team, we wouldn’t of achieved it,” stated Clarence. NET Credit Union continues to work hard to assure that our members aren’t customers; they’re family.
